Congratulations Shannen

Shannen was brilliant when he competed in the athletics. Look at all of his certificates. He got 2nd in Quoits, 3rd in High jump and 3rd in the sprint. Well done Shannen.

Our Assembly

On Friday it was our turn to host assembly. We made up a play about caterpillars turning into butterflies. We showed our art work. We read some of our "Who am I" questions and challenged the school with our fraction problems.

We had to get into the right order on a number line.

Jacob read his "guess who?" clues. Lots of people had a guess.

The butterflies ate nectar from the flowers.

Animal Hunt

We searched in different habitats to find what lived there. We found some animals and took photos. We had to look carefully and by sneaky so the animals didn't go away.

Solomon took a photo of a bird singing in a tree.

This slater curled up into a little ball. It reminded us of a hedgehog.

We found a worm in the garden. We had to dig a little bit to get it.

This stick insect only had five legs when we found it. We wonder if it can grow a new leg.

Anna was at school. She was looking for insects too!

The  bee liked the yellow flowers best. It is getting nectar.

We had to wait for the butterfly to land. It was flying from flower to flower.

Habitats

We found out that habitats are special places where animals like to live. We had a look around our school and found some habitats that small creatures might like. We took some photos. We made sure we held the camera still and used the close up focus. If your look closely at our photos you will see we found some animals as well.

Circles of Life

We brainstormed and recorded our ideas about what we think "Circles of Life" means. Here are our ideas.

Fractional Numbers

We are learning about fractional numbers. We are making and naming fractions. We needed to make a pizza and cut it into 1/2 and into 1/4.

Calendar Art

At the beginning of Term 3 you will be able to order calendars, diaries and cards featuring the original art work of your child. These would make great gifts for grandparents, aunties and uncles. You have a choice this year, either Sunflowers or Houses on a Hill. Choose your favourite!

The Light Bolt by Shannen and Krishan.

At discovery Shannen and me made a electicity bolt. We had to put the wire in the right place. I got a shock from the electricity. It was hard. We put a buzzer on it and we used 4 batteries together.  It was really really really really bright. It was fun to make. It took the whole of  discovery to make it.

Using the Bluescreen

This time, no body !
These colours worked well.
We did our shows in front of the bluescreen. Some of our shots worked and others were not so good. We found out that pink and some blues turn invisible so some of our puppets had see-through bodies, and holes in their heads. We well remember that for the next time we use the blue screen.

Our Puppet Show

Thanks to everyone who came to our open evening. We hope you enjoyed the products of our hard work!

Encore (Performing Arts)

We have spent some time learning how to sew the gloves for our puppets. Alexi and Sydney-May came to help us and did a wonderful job. Thanks girls.
